New Years Eve Make-Up Trick

There's nothing like trying something new out to greet the new year. So, to get this shimmery New Years Eve look follow this tutorial.

Step 1: Cover blemishes up with a concealer or foundation. Also, to get that fresh new years skin smear concealer around your eyes and blend in well. (Be careful not to go too far down into the cheek because it can give an obvious glowing line surrounding your circles.) I use Clean and Clear and it works really well.

Step 2: Curl your eyelashes and put mascara on the top lashes only. I use Voluminous and it makes my eyelashes pretty thick. If you feel it's necessary, you can also line your top lashes with a liner, preferably a liquid one so it has that polished look.

Step 3: Line your waterline
with white eyeliner. Start
from the outer edge and work your way in and fade more towards the inner corner.

Step 4: Now this is where
your choice comes in.
You can either do a
lipstick or a Chapstick. It depends on what kind of color you want to get.

Step 5: Now choose 2 or 3 shades of eyeshadow–one shimmery
color, the other (or other 2) a lighter version of that color or
any lighter shade you want.

Step 6: Now this is going to freak you out, I know, but don't close this window just yet; give it a try!
Apply the brightest/main shade all over your bottom and top lips dabbing it on lightly. Then apply the other color(s) to the center of your bottom lip and blend.

Step 7: Then if you want to add more to the New Years shimmery look, apply a soft close to white or white eye shadow up on your brow bones, in the inner corners of your eyes, and on the outer edges. Don't expect this to show up a lot. It's just supposed to look sparkly. But if you do want a color, go for a goldish/bronzy shade and don't over do it.

So, that's all! Here's the finished look:

Here are some examples of how to do the look with a Chapstick base instead of a lipstick, and shadows:

This is a dark purplish shade and the lighter version of it in the center.

This is a pinkish red shadow and a frosty pink in the center.

This is a frosty mauve color/dusty rose and a silvery version of that in the center.

Hope this helps for New Years Eve! And remember, experiment with the look. Try cat eyes, or maybe a completely different color for the center of your bottom lip. Have fun with it!
