Locks for Looks

This season I've noticed the fashion industry bursting with new innovative and creative hairstyles, between the runway, editorial photo shoots and street fashion. I've noticed a huge trend of bohemian styles which pretty much boil down to three major recurring patterns.

The first major trend I've noticed is the funky take on a classic twisty look. It's chalk-full of topsy-turvy, voluptuous dos and smooth, rich colors. This is a sort of modern twist (no pun intended!) on a classic do, and it stays fresh and timeless.

The next trend I've noticed has blown up recently everywhere I look. It's that stringy, blonde-grunge, thin wavy/straight hair that's all over–yeah, you know what I'm talking about! This look is growing on me, especially since hombre looks so good on this kind of hair. Unfortunately, my hair is the exact opposite of this kind: dark, extremely thick and curly. Nonetheless, this look is great for boho chicness and giving your outfits a bit of an edge. This is especially big on the runway.

The last pattern I've noticed is probably the biggest at the moment. I'm really digging this french/twist/fishtail braid style! It's, for the most part, pretty easy to do on your own and instantly improves your outfits. It's great for keeping locks out of your face, too, or for just a bad hair day. These looks are so creative–I would've never thought of doing this kind of thing with braids, twisting and turning them in every possible direction. I also love the fishtails or regular braids that are looser at the root and tighten as the braid progresses. Edgy, yet classic.

So, these are the trends I've seen recently in hair, and I'm loving every bit of it. Finally, styles that all of us ladies can do and actually enjoy looking at!*
